Welcome to the forum. That sounds about right. Have you went through a similar process with a new Jeep model in the past (i.e. Wrangler or Grand Cherokee 4xe)I think the current frontrunner thought is that recon will debut at the Chicago Auto Show starting Feb. 11. That probably coincides with reservations going live. It's the auto industry event that fulfills the "early 2023" timeline from Jeep.
If it's not that, then I assume there will be a separate Recon event in March which probably matches one-year from the launch of the vehicle.
/pure speculation
I have not, but I do think the timing works out. I also think this is going to be a big year for EV reveals so if I'm Jeep, I'm going to try and build excitement as early as possible and try to carry that momentum throughout the year. Chicago Auto show makes a lot of sense. If you don't do Chicago, your next major auto show would be New York which is in April (which really isn't "early 2023"Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the feedback. Have you by any chance spoken with your local Jeep dealer or others to see what their systems say about the launch timeline, if anything? I have to think they have something at this point, even if it's not right down to an exact day.I have not, but I do think the timing works out. the other option is to do your own event, but they basically already did that last year with the reveal. Kinda hard to imagine they'd do yet another one-off event.
If I were a betting man, I'd wager we'll see a pre-production model at Chicago with the launch of the reservation system.
Welcome to the forum. Are you considering any other EVs if Jeep takes too long?I’ve ordered many Jeeps in the past, including new models of Wrangler and the Gladiator….that said, I expect the Recon to be different. That order won’t be fulfilled in a matter of weeks, or even months. It’ll be a year or more, I expect.
I haven't since in my experience the dealerships are basically worthless when it comes to finding out info on new models. I imagine you know more than they do.Thanks for the feedback. Not really. I LOVE everything about the Polestar 2 except that it’s Chinese owned. I say that having not actually driven one, but I do like it. Rivian, Alpha and Nikola had me intrigued, but the Badger seems dead, Alpha seems like vaporware. I own Rivian stock, so I hope it succeeds, but I think I can save $ and get almost as much out of a Recon or Wagoneer S as I would from a Rivian.Welcome to the forum. Welcome to the forum. What other EVs have you considered, if any?I'm curious to see how the ordering and fulfillment goes. I ordered a Ford Maverick hybrid in July of 21, got it May of 22. Many still waiting on their Mavericks or getting them well after I did while having ordered around the same time. The Recon is everything I could have ever really wanted in an EV and as tempting as it is to order, I love my Maverick and I'm not in the market. My husband, however, is. He's NOT a car person, so I'm pretty much doing the legwork for him, and having him yay or nay vehicles. He's going to order a Recon (hopefully) when the order banks do open. In my eyes, this is going to be a hit for JEEP and go quick, so I'm hoping we can snag one.
Welcome to the forum. Have you reached out to your dealer about getting an early spot in line?I was predicting the Chicago Auto Show as well, but we now all know how that went. I think New York is the next logical place to show it off and open reservations. It still qualifies as early 2023 since it's in the first half of the year. There is the small chance of something being shown at Easter Jeep Safari (the new 20th anniversary Rubicon was there last year), but I think that's a very slim chance. Much more likely they do it in New York where they'll get the attention of more news outlets. Can't wait to put in a reservation!
Now that nothing happened at the Chicago Auto Show New York definitely makes sense to me. If no I guess Jeep will do it on their own time or at the Detroit Auto Show in September.I was predicting the Chicago Auto Show as well, but we now all know how that went. Thanks! I haven’t. I didn’t know that would be a thing. I was expecting reservations to be something you can do online and you’d just specify what dealer you wanted to work with when it came time to order. Any guidance on the best way to secure one would be appreciated!Welcome to the forum. Have you reached out to your dealer about getting an early spot in line?
I’m wanting to go fully electric, have a vehicle that can still get me to the dispersed camp sites on Colorado trails that I enjoy, and have a quiet smoother (IFS) ride around town. I actually just traded my Gladiator in (lease was up) for a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe. It’s given me a taste of fully electric driving and I’m onboard. I did the trade knowing this would be a short lease until the Recon comes out. The incentives were just too good to pass up.Now that nothing happened at the Chicago Auto Show New York definitely makes sense to me. What about the Recon has you the most excited about the Recon @DougalsMD?
I assumed this as well. That’s how it worked with Broncos and Hummers. Do you folks think these will go for below msrp possibly? I’ve gotten 2 wranglers way under msrp at my high volume dealer that’s about 3 hours away. However, I just put in an order for a 20th anniversary wrangler and that dealer was asking 10k ADM. A local small place is selling to me at msrp. So not sure which to go with for a recon. Thanks! I haven’t. I didn’t know that would be a thing.
